I joined Escombe McGrath in Southampton in 1961, port agents for P&O, as a shorthand typist. When P&O opened their own office in Southampton in 1969 I became Secretary to Captain Jim Kidd, then Len Scott, General Manager. When David McKee took over the role I was then his Personal Assistant for many happy years. When the office moved again I became Senior Secretary to Peter Motion, Director and then Managing Director of P&O Lines. The last ten years of my working life I moved as Administrative Executive in the Medical Department and it was from there that I retired after almost 36 years. On retirement I put the P&O Medical Society together in a formal manner and have been Secretary for the last twenty three years.<\/p>\n

Annie Harmston:<\/strong>\u00a0committee member:<\/p>\n

I joined P&O Princess Cruises in 1987 and my first ship was the Pacific Princess. I worked at sea for three and a half years and it is where I met my husband. I knew Cyndy from my interview with first Geoffrey Cunningham and then my medical with Stuart Fleming. When I became pregnant at sea I had to leave and then I started work in the medical department with Cyndy and Stuart. And one thing led to another and so I became assistant secretary, and from 1 November I will be secretary of POMS!<\/p>\n

I was a P&O surgeon from 1984 to 1988, and 1991-1996 working on the original Oriana, Canberra, Sun Princess (ex-Spirit of London), Pacific Princess (ex-Sea Venture), Island Princess (ex-Island Venture), Royal Princess, Sea Princess (ex-Kungsholm), Star Princess (ex-Sitmar Fairmajesty), Crown Princess (ex-Sitmar new build), Sky Princess (ex-Sitmar Fairsky), Dawn Princess (ex-Sitmar Fairwind).<\/p>\n

I also spent two 1-month periods as a locum for the Senior Medial Officer at Dukes Keep, Southampton.<\/p>\n
